Brand Consultancy

We’ve just finished up a very quick and interesting project with a College in a brand consultancy capacity. A previous design agency had been appointed to produce a new brand direction to roll out across a set of marketing communications. For whatever reason, this project wasn’t completed and the internal team needed guidance on how to roll the new direction out across both print and digital communications.

Brand Consultancy – your checklist

If you’re in this situation and in more of a junior capacity, here is a helpful checklist that you can use to ensure you have everything you need to move forward internally with rolling out a brand refresh. This will vary from brief to brief and what has been agreed from the start. But hopefully, you can gain some value from this.

Brand Toolkit – Do you have the following:

  1. Colours: Do you know the colour references that have been used? CMYK, RGB, Pantone, HEX
  2. Fonts: Have you been provided with, or do you know what fonts you are meant to be using for both internal and external communications? In a print and digital (web) capacity too?
  3. Master files: In this case, it would have been master photoshop or Illustrator files – but if you are going through a full re-brand programme – make sure you get master Identity files in various formats and colours.
  4. Grid templates: Did your agency put together some examples of stationery, email footers, web pages, brochure layouts, social media templates?
  5. Art Direction: Do you know how to handle photography for you brand? The style, tone and direction of image?

This is just a very quick snapshot of what your brand toolkit should comprise of and again, this will heavily depend on the briefing process and agreements between you and your agency.
